Celebrating Diversity. Inspiring Unity. Building Community.
The Indian Cultural Association North Lincolnshire (ICANL), in proud partnership with Scunthorpe Theatres, is delighted to announce the return of River of Talent 2027 — a spectacular celebration of culture, diversity, talent and community. Following the outstanding success of the inaugural event in January 2026, River of Talent returns to bring communities from across North Lincolnshire and neighbouring areas together for an unforgettable evening of cultural exchange, entertainment and community spirit.
The Indian Cultural Association North Lincolnshire (ICANL) is a community organisation based in Scunthorpe, dedicated to promoting cultural harmony, inclusion and meaningful opportunities for people from all backgrounds. Through events such as River of Talent, ICANL aims to celebrate the rich diversity of our region, inspire young people, promote friendship and understanding, and strengthen a lasting sense of belonging within the local community.
The inaugural River of Talent in 2026 welcomed more than 400 guests and featured over 100 performers across 20 vibrant music and dance performances, representing a wide range of cultures and traditions. The evening also celebrated six recipients of the prestigious Excellence Awards, recognising outstanding contributions to community service and social impact, while raising £1,000 for The Health Tree Foundation, the official charity of Scunthorpe General Hospital.
River of Talent 2027 promises another spectacular six-hour multicultural celebration, featuring music, dance and cultural performances, delicious Indian cuisine, networking and opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together, socialise and celebrate. The event will be honoured by the presence of the Hon. Mayor of North Lincolnshire as Chief Guest. We are also delighted to welcome East Yorkshire Cultural Organisation, Hull Indian Malayali Association, Mitra - Women's Forum Hull, Pragnya Indian Arts Centre Hull, Grimsby Keralites Association, and Chilanka School of Dance, Lincoln as official participants.
A special highlight of the evening will be the prestigious Excellence Awards, recognising individuals and organisations whose exceptional contributions to community service, charitable work and social impact have made a meaningful difference to the lives of others. All attendees will be served a two-course Indian meal, including a starter and main course.
We are proud to confirm that the main sponsors of River of Talent 2027 are Kapil Care Homes, Scunthorpe, and GMP Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Hull. Their generous support demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, community engagement and social responsibility, and we are sincerely grateful for their partnership in helping make this celebration possible.
River of Talent 2027 is proudly being delivered with the support of North Lincolnshire Council, Cultural Futures, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and our valued sponsors. This collective support reflects a shared commitment to celebrating diversity, strengthening communities, promoting cultural understanding and creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect and participate.
As part of ICANL's ongoing commitment to giving back to the community, funds raised through sponsorship will support local charitable causes. We are delighted to share that the beneficiary of funds raised through River of Talent 2027 sponsorships will be Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Scunthorpe, supporting the vital work they provide to individuals and families across our local community.
ICANL warmly welcomes further support from local businesses, organisations and community partners wishing to become sponsors of River of Talent 2027. Sponsorship provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your organisation's commitment to diversity, inclusion and community engagement, while supporting an event that brings people together and celebrates the many cultures that make our region such a vibrant place to live.
“The project has been made possible with the support of North Lincolnshire Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of Cultural Futures, a multi-year initiative to increase arts, heritage and cultural opportunities for North Lincolnshire.”
We look forward to welcoming performers, community organisations, businesses, families and guests from across the region to River of Talent 2027 for an inspiring evening of culture, connection and celebration.
