Script Writing for Beginners
Come and join us for these interactive sessions which will involve practical writing exercises and the opportunity to write and share your work too. Each week we will look at and consider excerpts of published scripts which illustrate the elements being taught.

About the course:
The initial course outline for the first six-week programme will cover:
Week 1: Introductions. What is a storytelling? What is a script? Script formatting for the stage and an introduction to structure.
Week 2: Writing a story versus writing a script. The dos and don'ts of script writing for the stage.
Week 3: Telling your story.
Week 4: Writing dialogue.
Week 5: Creating structure.
Week 6: Developing a plot. This final session for this block looks at the essentials in more detail.
About the tutor:
Andy Evans is a Lincolnshire-based playwright who has been published in the UK and the USA, has worked professionally with Hull Truck Theatre Company, National Theatre Wales, Middle Child, Slung Low, Dirty Protest and his own companies, Breakwater Theatre Company and Kazbah Theatre. Andy has a BSc (Hons) and an MA in theatre, he has recently completed a PhD in Drama at the University of Lincoln and is a former teacher with over 30 years of experience, working with all age groups, including 18 years working at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe.
