Following a wonderful performance in November, we are delighted to announce that the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will return to The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe for a very special performance on Thursday, 10 May at 7.30pm.
Acknowledged as one of the UK’s most prestigious orchestras, the Orchestra enjoys an international reputation for bringing audiences worldwide first-class performances and the highest possible standards of music-making across a diverse range of musical repertoire.
Presenting a programme of all-time favourites, British conductor Simon Wright leads the Orchestra for Smetana’s sparkling Overture to The Bartered Bride, Sibelius’ atmospheric Finlandia and Beethoven’s immortal Symphony No.5, which begins with perhaps the most famous bars of classical music ever written. Rising star Alexandra Dariescu takes to the stage for the concert’s popular centrepiece – Grieg’s dramatic and lyrical Piano Concerto in A minor.
